Classic Taper

THE CUT

This style represents one of the ideal men’s cuts, mostly due to its timelessness and versatility. It’s definitely a foundational men’s style. Go from a buttoned-up boardroom look to a night out just by changing up the styling. Its classic shape can be worn extremely short at the side or longer, depending on what you are looking for. The shorter the sides the more trendy the look.

The hair is clean cut along the nape and sides to create a sharp look. The sides and back are cut and then taper faded down. The top is cut into short layers, leaving about an inch-and-a-half of length, and combined with the sides and back. This edgier taper cut is created with a slight disconnection at the top to give versatility to the style.

This style compliments all types of facial shape. The length in the crown will be determined by the hairline and face shape. The more round the face, the more height is needed to elongate the face.

The classic cut works well for all hair types, but is especially perfect for hair with a bit of density. Slightly wavy hair will allow the style to maintain its shape. If your hair is too curly or too straight for your liking with this cut, a styling tool like a flat iron might be able to help.

THE STYLING

Apply a small amount of DESIGNLINE Ultimate Matte Clay to towel-dried hair, using the palms of your hands.

A SECOND LOOK

You may not have considered it, but adding hair color to this cut can accent this fantastic style. Have your stylist balayage some lighter colors throughout and within minutes a new look is created. This look is definitely trending for men right now.
